India Shaping Future of Sports Broadcasting: JioStar’s Ishan Chatterjee
At the SVG India Summit 2026, Ishan Chatterjee said India is rapidly emerging as a global innovation hub for sports broadcasting, powered by massive digital scale, regional audience engagement and AI-driven fan experiences.
Speaking during the keynote session, Chatterjee highlighted how live sports consumption in India continues to redefine global benchmarks, with JioHotstar recording a peak concurrency of 72.5 million viewers during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 Final.
Emphasising the next phase of evolution in sports streaming, Chatterjee said:
“With the advancements in artificial intelligence, we have an opportunity to take a fundamental leap – from serving aggregate cohorts to individual personas, where each fan can watch live sports in a way that feels made just for them.”
He also spoke about the integration of multilingual conversational AI, voice search and commerce capabilities within the streaming ecosystem, including JioHotstar’s partnership with Swiggy for in-app food ordering during live sports events.
