Broadcast India 2019 – Reaching New Heights

Broadcast India 2019 in its 29th edition achieved a record number of qualified visitors and the Show floor had the leading brands showcasing their latest innovations. The Show featured a range of Conference panel sessions which debated the latest trending topics like OTT, AI, Sports Production, Broadcast Immersive Experience and Supersessions and Seminar presentations

Broadcast India 2019 in its 29th edition had all the credentials of being the only established show for the broadcast, film, post-production and entertainment sector Despite a gloomy outlook on the business prospects prevailing within the distributor community which has been looming large for a while, there seemed to be renewed level of energy on the trade show floor over three days. The Show achieved a record turnout of 11,098 unique visitors from 36 countries, a remarkable 20 percent increase over the previous year.

The inaugural session saw the presence of leading director & producer Subhash Ghai along with Walter J. Linder, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Ujwal Nirgudkar, Oscar Academy Member & Chairman - SMPTE India Chapter, Bernhard Steinrücke, Director General, Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, Peter Bruce, Director APAC – IABM,Satish Aggarwal, President, All India Broadcast Manufacturers and Distributors Association & Managing Director, Visual Technologies India, Sonia Prashar, Managing Director and Chairperson of the Management Board -NürnbergMesse India.

The cross-section of visitors ranged from across India including South, North and West and the East of India. The regional broadcast market in South is a hot bed of activity and sees a major slew of investments into the latest broadcast hardware and newsroom solutions by the leading broadcasters.. Equally vibrant is the film production and post production sector which has seen a surge over the last year. Across the Hindi belt the action amidst the entertainment genre and news channels is heating up

Range of new technologies on display on the Show floor

The camera manufacturers ranging from Sony, Panasonic, Arri, Red, Canon, Ikegami, Carls Zeiss had crowds thronging their booth. The other brands included companies like Avid, Octopus, Grass Valley, Boston, Kingston, Western Digital. Top System Integrators like VTI, Cineom, Qube Cinema, ARK, Telerad reaffirmed their faith by taking large booths to showcase their range of products.

Conference Session on OTT Vs Traditional Broadcasting

The Conference at Broadcast India 2019 was a major highlight of the show and all the sessions were well attended. “Grass Valley has been associated with the Broadcast India Show for the last 15 years. It’s a good show and has been growing over the years. We have seen a lot of improvement in the Show in the last 4 years. And we hope we can have two editions of Broadcast India in a year, one in Mumbai and one in Goa.” said Gaurhav Sethi, Regional Director , South Asia of Grass Valley.

Conference Session on Sports Production

“I represent the IABM which is the organization and association of the broadcast and media supply companies. Broadcast India 2019 has seen an increase in the number of exhibitors and delegate attendees. Its exciting to see the new range of technologies on display. I have been visiting the Show since 1995 and have been seeing the new changing technologies being displayed at the Show. The 2019 Show has an interesting conference panel which is debating the new technology trends in the industry.” said Peter Bruce, Director APAC, IABM.

“This is our first participation at Broadcast India and we are amazed at the response from the Show. We are showcasing our new age SSDs. The quality of delegates has been very good.” said Vishal Parekh, Marketing Director at Kington

Friederike Bruckert, Head of Worldwide Sales of Maxon, said “We are showcasing Cinema 4D R21. This is our second participation. India is a great market and we have been having good meetings with Indian customers. Broadcast India is an ideal platform to showcase our motion graphics products. We have a good booth location and are participating with Tathashu, our main partner in India. The audience that attended the Show this year is highly qualified. We will definitely be back next year.”

“Adobe has been participating at Broadcast India since last nine years and the reason why we come to Broadcast India is it’s a single location for us to meet our enterprise customers, midmarket customers, freelancers. The market continues to mature and AI & IP revolution continues to have dramatic changes in the broadcast workflow operations of television channels. Sports production, newsroom operations continue to see renewed investments. The post-production workflows is also upgrading across leading post houses. Broadcast India 2020 will move to a new hall i.e. Hall 1 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre and will see more action on the trade show floor with more exhibitors, conference sessions, Masterclass and a range of new technologies being displayed.
